Those returning from captivity to rebuild and restore the house of the Lord include priest, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers, temple servants, and many others from Israel. “When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings toward the rebuilding of the house of God on site.” This passage beautifully portrays God’s people responding to His gracious work with willing and generous hearts. May we also recognize God at work in our midst and give generously of ourselves and our resources for His purposes.
