God stirs the heart of the Persian King, fulfilling the word He spoke through the prophet Jeremiah (Jer. 25:11-12; 29:10-14). In response, the king issues a proclamation allowing the exiled Jews to return to Jerusalem, rebuild the temple, and obtain the resources needed for the work. “Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and priests and Levites—everyone whose heart God had moved—prepared to go up and build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem.” Throughout every generation, God faithfully moves hearts and orchestrates events to fulfill His redemptive purposes for His people.
