“But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked… My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” The psalmist deeply struggles as he watches the wicked prosper in health and wealth, while he suffers affliction. He questions the legitimacy of walking with a pure heart. Yet, as he draws near to God, his doubts begin to fade, and he recognizes that God is the only answer, as the wicked will ultimately perish.
