The psalmist cries out to God in deep distress, questioning whether God has forgotten to be merciful. Yet as he remembers God's mighty works in the past—especially His deliverance of Israel through the Red Sea—his despair gives way to renewed confidence. He learns that remembering God's faithfulness is an anchor for troubled hearts.

When present circumstances cloud your vision, look back at God's past faithfulness. The God who carried you before has not changed and will carry you again.
