Job is introduced as a righteous and God-fearing man who experienced tremendous blessing, yet behind the scenes Satan challenged the sincerity of Job’s faith. God allowed Job to be tested, and in one devastating day Job lost his livestock, servants, and all of his children. In unimaginable grief, Job mourned deeply but responded with worship, declaring, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Faith becomes most visible not when life is easy but when God remains worthy even in suffering. Job 1 reminds us that our circumstances do not always reveal God’s activity—sometimes battles we cannot see are taking place while God is still fully in control.
