When the day of destruction arrived, the Jewish people were instead given victory over those who intended to harm them, and mourning was turned into celebration. This became the foundation for the Feast of Purim, a yearly reminder that God had preserved and delivered His people. The book closes with Mordecai serving in leadership and using his position to seek the good of others rather than his own advancement.
One of the most powerful themes of Esther is that God is working even when His name is never directly mentioned. Esther 9–10 reminds us to celebrate.
