Solomon observes the oppression, loneliness, and endless striving that characterize much of human existence. He recognizes that envy and competition often motivate people's hard work, leaving them exhausted and dissatisfied despite their accomplishments. He concludes that companionship and meaningful relationships are far more valuable than isolated success, reminding readers that two are better than one.

Success loses much of its meaning when it comes at the expense of the relationships God has placed in our lives. Rather than measuring life by what we accomplish or accumulate, we should recognize the tremendous value of walking through life alongside others.
