Acts 12 describes how King Herod persecutes the early church, executing James and imprisoning Peter to gain favor with the people. While Peter is in prison, the church prays earnestly, and an angel miraculously frees him, demonstrating God’s power over human authority. The chapter ends with Herod’s downfall after he accepts praise as a god, while the word of God continues to spread and flourish.

Even in impossible situations, God is able to act in ways we don’t expect, especially when His people pray faithfully. This passage reminds you that human power is temporary, but God’s purpose always prevails.
