“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep,” v11. Jesus began this metaphor without identifying himself directly. In verses seven and nine He was pointing out to the Pharisees that His sheep already were listening without His making the claim. If He was the shepherd, all who had come before Him were “thieves and robbers,” with other agendas, vs 8-10.
Never have there been so many voices seeking followers. And never have there been so many ways to communicate. If we are His sheep, we will listen to His voice and edit out all other claims.
