When the festival came to an end, the Israelites went out and destroyed the pagan idols and altars. Hezekiah then reestablishes the priests and Levites for service and worship in the temple. Then, the king called on God’s people to give, and they responded with great generosity. Scripture says of Hezekiah, “In everything he undertook in the service of God’s temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered.” This is a picture of wholehearted love and devotion for God, a life resolute in obedience, worship, and generosity.
