In 2 Chronicles 1, Solomon establishes his rule over Israel and goes to Gibeon to offer sacrifices to God at the tabernacle. God appears to him in a dream and invites him to ask for anything, and Solomon humbly requests wisdom and knowledge to lead the people well. Pleased with his request, God grants him exceptional wisdom along with riches, honor, and influence beyond any other king.
Solomon’s choice shows that valuing wisdom over personal gain aligns our hearts with God’s priorities. When we seek what helps us serve others faithfully, God often provides not only what we need, but more than we expected.
