Who would have thought that the king who built the great Temple in Jerusalem, who had received more wisdom than any person, who had prayed a prayer of dedication (8:22-53) that captured the heart of God, who became greater than all the kings on earth (10:23) – who would have believed King Solomon would turn his heart away from God, (11:4-8)?  And when he turned his heart, his behavior followed; the temple builder became the builder of places to worship idols.

Solomon had forgotten what he had once written, “Keep your heart; in it are the issues of life”, Proverbs 4:23. It cannot be stated strongly enough.
