“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness” ... and to live “upright and godly lives” (11-12). Paul gave us a summary of the “sound doctrine” he wanted Titus to teach believers (1). Jesus saved us for a purpose: to make us “a people for his very own, eager to do what is good” while we await His return (13-14). As we become self-controlled (2,5,6,12), kind (5), and trustworthy people, our lives give credibility to the gospel (10).

Jesus calls us to live today as citizens of His coming kingdom, people who are “temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance” (2:2).
